Counsellor Profile: Abbie

Abbie Simpson MBACP

My name is Abbie, I am a qualified counsellor offering long-term and short-term therapy. I have a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and I’m a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).

Therapeutic counselling gives a space to find a deeper level of connection with ourselves and the world around us. It helps gain a greater understanding of who we are, how we operate and think and how we interact with others.

My main aim as a counsellor is to provide a secure and confidential space for my practice which is centred around kindness, safety, integrity and acceptance.

About my Practice

A sunset landscape of the area where Abbie lives and practices

My training is in Person-Centred Counselling, but I use an integrative approach when working with clients. I do not feel one approach fits all and since each client is unique, our way of working together will be individual to you.

I offer face-to-face sessions at The Carlile Institute in Meltham. I also offer outdoor therapy for those who feel more at ease being outside in nature, or may struggle to sit inside for 50 minutes with the focus being solely on them. This can be either sat together in nature or a ‘walk-and-talk’ therapy session.

Together we will explore, at a pace that is right for you, any issues that are stopping you from living your life and holding you back from your full potential. My aim is to make you feel seen, heard, understood, and offer a sanctuary where you will feel no judgement.

I want you to be able to heal through counselling and start living the life you want to live.

My Background

I currently work part-time for a mental health charity. This work connects me to clients experiencing a wide range of worries, concerns and issues from grief to substance abuse, from anxiety to relationship issues – and everything in between.

I have many years of experience working in education with children who are hearing impaired and on the SEND register. I have brought this skillset with me into my counselling career: my aim continues to be ensuring that people I help feel included, heard, and advocated for.

In my personal life, I am a wife and mother, and I love spending time with my ever-changing family. In my free time I love to swim outdoors and enjoy the beautiful countryside we live in.

Investment

My fees are comparable with other less experienced mental health professionals. My usual rate is £50 per 50-minute session; however, I am open to agreeing a different fee depending on an individual’s circumstances.

Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged at the full rate. Fees can be paid by bank transfer in advance, or cash on the day of the appointment.

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and I work to their ethical and professional standards. I have DBS clearance and Professional Liability Insurance. I undertake monthly professional supervision as part of my continuous professional development.
